RRB JE Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for Posts & Last Date

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways have released the RRB JE Recruitment 2026 notification under CEN No. 04/2026 for various posts of Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA).

Following the latest corrigendum, the total number of vacancies has been increased from 3,993 to 4,029 posts. Candidates possessing the required engineering diploma, degree, or other post-specific educational qualifications can apply through the official RRB application portal.

The online application process started on 14 August 2026, and the last date to submit the application form is 13 September 2026 up to 11:59 PM. The last date to pay the application fee is 15 September 2026

RRB JE Vacancy 2026

RRB JE Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

The application fee varies according to the candidate's category. Candidates who appear in the first-stage CBT are eligible for the prescribed refund after deduction of applicable bank charges.

The fee refund is available only to candidates who actually appear in the first-stage CBT.

RRB JE Age Limit 2026

For RRB JE/DMS/CMA Recruitment 2026, candidates must generally be between 18 and 33 years of age as on 01 January 2027.

Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable to eligible SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other reserved-category candidates according to Government of India and Railway Recruitment Board rules.

RRB JE Educational Qualification 2026

Educational qualifications vary according to the post and engineering discipline selected by the candidate.

For most Junior Engineer posts, candidates are required to possess a three-year Diploma in Engineering or an eligible Engineering Degree such as B.E./B.Tech in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institute.

For Depot Material Superintendent, candidates with a three-year Diploma in an eligible engineering discipline can apply, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

For Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant, the revised notification requires a B.Sc. degree with Physics and Chemistry with at least 45% marks, subject to the detailed subject combination requirements given in the official corrigendum.

RRB JE Salary 2026

Selected candidates will be appointed under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.

The official notification specifies an initial pay of ₹35,400 under Level 6.

RRB JE Selection Process 2026

The recruitment process consists of four major stages:

CBT 1 → CBT 2 → Document Verification → Medical Examination

Candidates must qualify at each applicable stage to proceed further in the recruitment process.

RRB JE CBT 1 Exam Pattern 2026

The first-stage CBT is a screening examination common to the notified posts. It consists of 100 questions for 100 marks, and candidates receive 90 minutes to complete the examination.

There is negative marking of one-third (1/3) mark for every incorrect answer.

RRB JE CBT 2 Exam Pattern 2026

Candidates shortlisted through CBT 1 will appear for CBT 2. The second-stage examination contains 150 questions carrying 150 marks, with a duration of 120 minutes.

Negative marking of 1/3 mark for each wrong answer also applies to CBT 2.

RRB JE Minimum Qualifying Marks

The notification provides limited relaxation for eligible PwBD candidates in specified circumstances.
